My name is Sabrina. I’m originally from the Hamburg area, but I moved to Berlin two years ago to study at SRH University. As part of my internship semester, I’ve now landed at We Are Producers.

Sabrina Mohr PortaitI could write an endlessly long paragraph about how I got into writing and how it’s my greatest passion. The truth is: I started an animal keeper apprenticeship but dropped out, completed a carpentry apprenticeship, and then decided during the pandemic to finish my Abitur and change career paths again.

In short: I only discovered my talent for writing at 26 and stumbled upon the degree program “Creative Writing and Copywriting” by chance.

I’ve always been very interested in the horror genre, and during my studies I really came to understand what it means to me. Especially in film, I see it as a special art form, where non-everyday situations are acted out and recreated through effects. Unfortunately, the genre is often built on sexist ideas and stereotypical views. Strong female protagonists are just as hard to find as well-crafted female antagonists. In my view, female antagonists appear more often in paranormal stories, while female protagonists are more common in slashers—yet even there they’re often heavily stereotyped.

Through my writing, I want to push for more “diversity” in horror and more strong women like Sienna Shaw (Terrifier 2/3).

During a practical project in my studies, my interest in audio drama was sparked. I was able to develop my first idea for an audio play and plan to use my time at We Are Producers to learn as much as possible about every step of production—so that one day I can bring horror into the world of audio drama.
