I first met Van Bo through my network. When I spoke to him for the first time, I was immediately impressed by his positivity, his drive, and his ability to inspire people.

The idea

As an architect and the mind behind the Think Tank Tiny Foundation, Van Bo has been exploring smart housing solutions for very small spaces for quite some time. Together with like-minded people, he designs, develops and builds spaces and furniture.

“Trainees need a home with rent starting at €330. We want to build it.” Van Bo Le-Mentzel.

With his company Gemeinwohlbau, he is now taking the next step: planning to purchase crowdfunded plots of land in Berlin. The goal is to create affordable housing that trainees and single parents can also afford.

The Podcast Wi€ wohnst du?

This initiative is accompanied by a podcast that we developed together with Van Bo. In Wi€ wohnst du? (How do you live), Van Bo visits fascinating personalities in their homes and, as host, explores what matters to them when it comes to living — and what and how they choose to invest in.

Guests include sociologist and author Harald Welzer, former Blinkist co-founder Sebastian Klein, and musician Celina Bostic.

For the editorial side of the project, we brought journalist Tobias Hausdorf on board. Falk from the We Are Producers team created a custom sound design for the podcast and is also responsible for the podcast’s entire post-production.

One of the format’s special features is its hybrid character. In addition to the monthly audio episodes featuring interviews, short video episodes are published every week. In these clips, host Van Bo shares inspiration and food for thought on the topic of housing.
