Today marks the premiere of a very special project: “Der Römische Traum – eine Anno Story” (The Roman Dream – An Anno Story) is now available everywhere! One of the largest audio dramas ever produced by SWR – and a true highlight for fans of fiction podcasts and the legendary Anno video game series. This ambitious fiction podcast tells the official prequel to the new installment Anno 117: Pax Romana.

Hollywood for the Ear

The Roman Dream is not just another audio drama. It’s a cinematic fiction podcast that transports listeners right into the heart of Ancient Rome. With an exclusive soundtrack by the renowned Anno composers, recorded live by the SWR Symphony Orchestra, it delivers an immersive soundscape normally reserved for big-screen productions.

The Plot

The story begins with a desperate dream: Two young men sell themselves into slavery – hoping to rise within the Roman Empire.
What first appears to be a way out quickly turns into a perilous and adventurous odyssey through colonies, intrigues, and the power centers of a vast empire.

Renowned German Voices

At the center of it all: Jannik Schümann as Simeon – supported by a cast of well-known German voice actors who bring this epic drama vividly to life.

Produced in Our Studio in Berlin

We Are Producers handled the complex production: In our studio in Berlin, we recorded the actors and created the acoustic world of Rome. Together with director Roman Ruthardt, Michael Viol crafted a richly detailed sound design that brings Ancient Rome alive – from the slave markets to the brutal gladiatorial battles in the Colosseum.

„Der römische Traum – Eine Anno Story“ is now available in the ARD Audiothek and on all major podcast platforms.
